Oxfam partners continue to respond to the most urgent needs in Gaza
ISRAELI OCCUPIED GAZA, 23 Jan. - (ANA) - Despite the ceasefire announced on 10 October 2025, Israel has notified 37 international humanitarian organisations, including Oxfam, that their registration to operate in the occupied Palestinian territory has expired.
Although this means that Israel is allowing far too little aid to enter Gaza, Oxfam remains fully committed to staying and delivery the maximum assistance possible to the Palestinian people in Gaza.
We continue to work through our staff, local partners and where possible, are purchasing items on the local markets.
Oxfam Gaza-based team is directly involved in responding to people’s needs, maintaining a strong local presence and connection to communities.
“For as long as systematic policies and practices preventing aid agencies from getting essential supplies into Gaza persist, we will have to keep finding a way to reach people in need.
It’s not an acceptable situation, but as humanitarians, we can never give up on trying to save lives.”, said Wassem Mushtaha, Oxfam Gaza Response Lead.
Wells restored by Oxfam and partners in Gaza City and Khan Younis are now providing at least 156,000 people with life-saving, sustainable access to clean water.
Work is ongoing to restore a further eight wells and two water pumping stations, which are expected to be operational by February — providing continuous fresh water for an additional 175,000 people. - (ANA) -
