Pretoria, 05 July-(ANA)-The Congress of South Africa Trade Union (COSATU) has intervened in the strike called by medical doctors, leading to the withdrawal of letters of dismissal issued to 296 of them by government.
The KwaZulu-Natal Health Department had on Monday issued sack letters to the 296 striking doctors in the province for participating in the two-week strike.
The department, however, on Friday announced the withdrawal of the letters following an announcement after the union managed to persuade the doctors to suspend their industrial action.
The doctors have now given COSATU one week, within which to ensure that government meets their grievances. (ANA)
