Obama to visit India in November
Washington, 04 June-(ANA)-US President Barack Obama has announced that he will visit India in November, in response to an invitation last year from the Indian PM Manmohan Singh.
Mr Obama told visiting Indian officials in Washington that relations with Delhi were among his highest priorities.
However, officials say there is tension over what many in the US see as the slow pace of India's opening to outside investments.
India and the US have forged closer defence and trade ties in recent years.
In 2008, they signed a civilian nuclear co-operation accord.
India gained access to US civilian nuclear technology and fuel in return for inspections of its civilian, but not military, nuclear facilities.
Trade between India and the US was worth about $40bn in 2008 - still significantly lesser than US trade with other partners like China and Europe.(ANA)
