Charles Taylor's wife gives birth

The Hague, Netherlands, 12 March-(ANA)-The wife of Liberia's ex-President Charles Taylor - on trial in The Hague for war crimes - has had a baby girl, his family spokesman says.

Sando Johnson said Victoria Addison-Taylor would soon take her back to Monrovia to meet the family.

"Mr Taylor is overjoyed with the birth of his daughter," said his lawyer.

Mr Taylor denies backing rebels who committed widespread atrocities throughout the 1990s in Liberia's neighbour Sierra Leone.

He already has two girls with his current wife, who moved to the Netherlands for the duration of the trial.

The baby was born in February but her birth has only just been made public. (ANA)
