Marrakesh to host Africities summit
Marrakesh, Morocco, 13 Nov-(ANA)-The Moroccan city of Marrakesh will host the fifth edition of Africities Summit from 16 to 20 December, organizers of the summit have announced.
Topics to be discussed at the World Event include - How are African local governments responding to the global crisis? and How should local sustainable development and employment be promoted?
Organised every three years in the different regions of Africa, the summit highlights the impetus given to the decentralisation process in Africa, and the place and role of local governments in the governance and development of African countries.
The Africities Summit attracts between 3500 and 5000 participants representing all the stakeholders of local development including ministers, officials, researchers and academics.
Citexpo, a fringe event open to all Summit delegates, is an international Exhibition of African Regional and Local Governments and offers stakeholders the opportunity to promote tools, products and experiences relating to the central theme of the Summit. (ANA)
