Houthis claim third missile strike on Israel as five killed in Beirut strike
BEIRUT/SANA'A, 01 April. - (ANA) - Yemen’s Houthis claimed a third missile attack on Israel on Wednesday as Israeli strikes on southern Beirut and a nearby town killed at least eight people.
The group said the attack was carried out jointly with Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, after Israel’s military reported its air defences had responded to a missile launched from Yemen. Israeli media said the missile was intercepted, with no reports of casualties or damage.
The Houthis "carried out the third military operation… targeting sensitive Israeli enemy targets… with a barrage of ballistic missiles", Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a video statement.
"This operation was conducted jointly with our mujahideen brothers in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon," he added.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's health ministry said early on Wednesday that a raid in the Jnah area, bordering Beirut's southern suburb, killed at least five people and wounded 21 others, part of a wider wave of strikes that killed at least seven people in total.
Lebanon was drawn into the war on March 2 when Hezbollah launched attacks on Israel, prompting a broad Israeli bombing campaign and a ground offensive across the country.
Separately, Israeli medics said 14 people were wounded following Iranian missile fire. - (ANA) -
