Iran urges UN to take action against US-Israeli 'aggression'
TEHRAN, 28 Feb. - (ANA) - Iran on Saturday called on the UN Secretary General, the President of the Security Council, and council members to take immediate action over what it described as a “clear military aggression” that breached international peace and security.
Tehran’s Foreign Ministry urged UN officials to “fulfill their duty as soon as possible” and confront what it said was a breach of the UN Charter.
The ministry described strikes by the US and Israel as a “clear armed aggression” and said responding was Iran’s “legal and legitimate right” under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which permits self-defence.
“Responding to this aggression is Iran’s legal and legitimate right,” the statement said, adding that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic would use “all their might and resources” to repel the attack.
Tehran also appealed to all UN member states, particularly regional and Islamic countries and members of the Non-Aligned Movement, to condemn the strikes and take “collective action.” - (ANA) -
