Israeli soldiers, settlers injure several Palestinians in West Bank attacks
ISRAELI OCCUPIED WEST BANK, 14 Sept. - (ANA) - Two Palestinian men were injured on Saturday by separate Israeli military and settler attacks in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said that on Saturday morning it treated a 60-year-old man who was wounded by live bullets in the leg inside Tulkarm refugee camp, adding that he was rushed to hospital.
According to local sources, Israeli forces opened fire at the man while he was near the Tulkarm camp, which alongside the Nur Shams have seen continuous raids for eight months.
The Israeli army stormed the city of Tulkarm on Thursday and imposed a curfew there after an explosion at an Israeli checkpoint wounded two soldiers. Despite ending its operation there on Friday, the Israeli army has continued raids in the nearby camps.
PRCS also said in a statement that its crews responded to another injury where a 58-year-old man was wounded after he was beaten by settlers in the village of Ibziq, northeast of the West Bank.
A 16-year-old boy was also injured by Israeli gunfire in the abdomen during a raid in the Qalandia camp, north of Jerusalem.
Palestinian news agency Wafa said Israeli forces also stormed on Saturday Kafr Aqab north of Jerusalem, without arrests being made.
The towns of Beitunia and Al-Bireh were also raided at dawn. Wafa quoted local sources as saying that Israeli soldiers raided and searched two homes and a commercial store there.
The Israeli military began 'Operation Iron Will' in January, which has seen it attack Palestinian towns and cities across the northern West Bank.
Israel claims it is uprooting Palestinian militant groups, but the destruction of towns and refugee camps and the forcible expulsion of residents have signalled Tel Aviv’s systematic approach to emptying the region of its Palestinian inhabitants, in the same manner as Gaza.
Israeli officials have publicly announced their intentions to fully annex the West Bank, captured by Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War.
The military raids – and regular attacks by extremist Jewish settlers – have killed at least 1,020 Palestinians and injured around 7,000 others since October 2023, when the Gaza war broke out. - (ANA) -
