Tanzania president urged to quit

Dar es Salam, 12 May –(ANA)-A Tanzanian opposition party is calling for the resignation of the president and defence minister, over a recent deadly blast at an ammunition depot.

The National Convention for Construction and Reform (NCCR) says the government was negligent to allow the weapons so near a residential area.

Twenty-six people died and hundreds were injured by the blasts on the outskirts of the capital Dar es Salaam.

The government said it cannot comment until an official inquiry is completed. (ANA)
