Five Palestinians killed by Israeli forces across West Bank
BURQIN, WEST BANK, 27 Sept. - (ANA) - Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in overnight raids in Jerusalem on Sunday, while two other Palestinian men were also confirmed dead in the town of Burqin, west of Jenin.
Palestinian Health Ministry spokesman Mohammad Hleil confirmed the deaths of three Palestinians from the village of Biddu, northwest Jerusalem, who were identified by their families as Ahmad Zahran, Zakariya Badwan and Mahmoud Hmaidan.
The statement released by the Ministry also confirmed the identity of one of the Palestinians from Burqin as 22-year-old Osama Soboh.
The fifth person killed is yet to be identified and his body has been taken away by Israeli forces, the Palestinian WAFA news agency reported.
Israeli authorities often use the bodies of Palestinians killed as bargaining chips in negotiations.
The leader of the Fatah movement, Saeed Yaqin, told The New Arab’s Arabic language service, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, that an armed clash took place at dawn on Sunday in the Wadi Ajab area of the northwest of Jerusalem, and indicated that the fighting lasted several hours.
Israeli forces launched a large-scale military operation in several towns west of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, where Palestinian fighters engaged in a confrontation with the soldiers.
A resident of the town of Burqin told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the army surrounded a house and fired at it, while calling through loudspeakers for a person to surrender.
Four Palestinians were killed in August during a raid to arrest a suspect in the West bank conducted by undercover Israeli forces.
In May, 256 Palestinians were killed, including 66 children, in an 11-day Israeli offensive on Gaza. - (ANA) -
