PM Johnson under fire as Covid rules rebellions spread

LONDON, 13 Oct. - (ANA) - The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is braced for a fresh onslaught of resistance as he revealed Downing Street’s hotly anticipated three-tier system for enforcing local lockdowns.

The new measures are intended to simplify the patchwork of rules currently covering more than 15 million Britons - approximately a quarter of the UK population - as Covid-19 infection rates and related deaths continue to increase.

But the plans are already under fire from across the political spectrum, with a senior Conservative MP telling Politico London Playbook’s Alex Wickham that “we are back to where we were in March - this is going to be shit and it may get shitter yet”.

According to Boris Johnson, the “bleak mathematics” of the many deaths and strain on the NHS that would result from failing to tackle Covid provides an obvious answer as to why new restrictions are needed.

But equally obvious is the disunity in his party over the measures, and the public’s exhaustion with coronavirus restrictions.

All in all, Boris Johnson’s three-tier lockdown system has not gone down well.  - (ANA) -
