UK reports 22,961 new cases of coronavirus
LONDON, 05 Oct. - (ANA) - The United Kingdom (UK) reported 22,961 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday – a figure that Public Health England has claimed is “artificially high” due to case reporting backlogs.
Meanwhile, global cases have passed 35 million, now standing at 35,016,152 according to the Johns Hopkins University coronavirus tracker.
A total of 1,034,974 people have died around the world.
The Daily Mail reports a “Fiasco over Covid count,” as it reveals that experts have warned that confusion over data is undermining the government’s pandemic response.
The Daily Telegraph says that nearly 16,000 positive coronavirus cases were not entered into the national computer system, causing problems for the track and trace scheme.
There is more gloomy news in the FT, which says some public health figures believe there’s been a lack of clarity in government messaging about Covid jabs. Vaccination for all of the UK is “not going to happen,” warns its front page. - (ANA) -
