Oer-Erckenschwick , Germany 17 Aug (ANA) - Two teams of footballers in Germany played a match wearing just their socks and boots on Sunday. The naked game held in the town of Oer-Erckenschwick near Dortmund, was organised to protest the commercialisation of the professional game. 

 

German football clubs have historically been controlled by their fans, who generally hold a majority stake. However, RB Leipzig have made it to the semi-finals of the Champions' League this season, just eleven years after being founded by the drinks maker Red Bull.

 

Artist and film director Gerrit Starczewski organised the naked game and explained the thinking behind it.(ANA)
