WASHINGTON, 08 July. - (ANA) - The U.S. gave formal notice of its withdrawal from the W.H.O. Effective in 2021, the move will cut off one of the organization’s top aid sources.

 

President Trump first announced that he planned to halt funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) in April, claiming that the organization had made a series of mistakes as it battled the virus.

 

The biennial budget for the W.H.O. is about $6 billion. In 2019, the last year for which figures were available, the United States contributed about $553 million.  - (ANA) -
