Plumbing mix-up turns water to wine
CASTELVETRO, Italy 8 Mar (ANA) - Italians in a rural hamlet were amazed when they turned on the taps and red wine poured out yesterday.
Startled residents in Settecani, Castelvetro, filmed a red sparkling substance coming out of the taps which had an unmistakably fruity scent.
The wine in question was Lambrusco Grasparossa and got into the local water supply due to a “mistake” at the nearby Settecani winery.
Wine ended up in the pipes of the aqueduct after a silo kept in the wine cellar broke down, local paper Gazzetta di Modena reported.
Because these pipes had higher pressure than the water pipes, it resulted in wine flowing from household taps which were located close the cellar, the title added.(ANA)
