Tenerife hotel with 1000 guests struck by coronavirus

TENERIFE, Spain 25 Feb (ANA) - A hotel in Tenerife popular with British tourists has gone into lockdown after a guest tested positive for coronavirus. The H10 Costa Adeje Palace hotel denies that it is under quarantine, but people in the hotel say they have been told they cannot leave their rooms and officials are considering a formal ban on people entering and leaving the hotel.
There are around 1,000 people in the hotel with local reports of police ensuring nobody accesses the building. The guest who tested positive is a doctor from Italy and was six days into a seven-day break with his wife.
He is from the Lombardy region of Italy where several people have died from coronavirus. It has been claimed that he had felt feverish for several days and went to a private clinic before being transferred to an isolation unit.
He is currently being kept in isolation and his test results will be sent to Madrid for a second analysis, as per Spain’s protocol in suspected coronavirus cases, the Canary Islands’ health authorities said in a statement.(ANA)
