Canadian doctors quit world body over Israeli Doctor’s ‘Plagiarism’
Reykjavik, Iceland, 09 Oct. - (ANA) - Representatives of the Canadian Medical Association announced Saturday that the group would resign from the World Medical Association after accusing its new president – Israel Medical Association chief r Leonid Eidelman of not attributing several passages to the original authors.
The decision to resign follows their claim that the inaugural speech on Saturday by the new President of the WMA, Dr Leonid Eidelman, did not attribute several passages to the original authors.
Responding to today’s resignation of the Canadian Medical Association from the World Medical Association, Dr. Frank Montgomery, vice chairman of the WMA, said:
‘We very much regret Canada’s decision. Delegates from the Canadian Medical Association have been valuable participants in WMA affairs for many years. We hope that in time they will return to the Association and we will welcome that day’.
Delegates from more than 50 national medical associations attended the annual General Assembly of the WMA in Reykjavik, Iceland from 3 to 6 October.
Dr. Leonid Eidelman, Past President of the Israel Medical Association, was installed as President of the WMA for 2018/19. Dr. Eidelman is head of the anesthesiology department at the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva. - (ANA) -
