Snow sparks chaos on London roads, tubes and trains

London 28 Feb (ANA) - Heavy snow has caused more misery for commuters as the sub-zero conditions brought by the 'Beast from the East' disrupt trains, planes and road traffic.  Police and fire services across Britain have had to rescue stranded vehicles and deal with crashes as several more inches of snow fell in some parts - amid warnings from the Met Office of a 'potential risk to life and property'.

Roads across the country were closed this morning due to treacherous conditions. One of the worst affected places was the North East, with some roads being left impassable, while thundersnow was reported in East Anglia.
Football matches were postponed across Scotland, winds whipping off the North Sea blew a lamp post onto a moving car, and the Virgin train line between Carlisle and Scotland was shut with no replacement buses.

All schools and nurseries in Glasgow were closed for today due to the weather amid the snowy and icy conditions, one day after four people died in two separate road accidents in Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.(ANA)
