Zimbabwe banks 'slash withdrawal limits'
Harare 4 Oct (ANA) - Some Zimbabwean banks have slashed the cash withdrawal limit to $50 (£40) a day in the latest sign of an acute currency shortage, the state-owned Chronicle newspaper reports. Long queues have formed at banks over the past seven days, with bankers saying the crisis is worsening every day, it adds. The bigger foreign-owned banks have reduced withdrawals from $300 to $200 a day, the newspaper reports. Most people have turned to supermarkets for a cash-back facility, swiping their cards to buy some items and to get back money. However, some supermarkets have stopped providing the facility, the Chronicle adds.FA/ANA/4 October 2016--------
