Cameroon: New report exposes human rights violations

London, 08 July. - (ANA) - On 14 July, Amnesty International will launch a new report on human rights violations committed by the Cameroon’s authorities and security forces in their fight against Boko Haram.

The report Right cause, wrong means: Rights violated and justice denied in Cameroon’s fight against Boko Haram documents how, while seeking to protect civilians from brutal Boko Haram’s attacks, Cameroon’s security forces have themselves committed human rights violations.

They have arbitrarily arrested hundreds of individuals accused, often with little or no evidence, of supporting Boko Haram.  Many of the detainees have been held in unofficial detention centers, subjected to torture and enforced disappearances and tried by military courts.

The report will be launched with a press conference in Yaoundé on 14 July from 9 to 10 am UTC at the La Falaise Hotel, Av Marechal Foch, Warda. - (ANA) -
