Abidjan, 4 June.- (ANA)  - King Mohammed VI of Morocco and president of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire Alassane Ouattara chaired, on Wednesday in Abidjan, the ceremony of presenting the Cocody Bay development and preservation project worth 100 billion CFA franc).
On this occasion, Said Zarrou, CEO of Marchica Med, gave a presentation before the two heads of state highlighting the broad lines of this project which was elaborated to safeguard and develop the Cocody Bay, and ensure the ecological restoration of this bay as well as of the Ebrié Lagoon.
The project provides for building a dam, hydraulic and marine structures, road infrastructures, crossings, a cable-stayed viaduct, a marina, an urban park and promenades.
Zarrou stressed that the project also provides for developing an ambitious program for sports, cultural, recreational and commercial facilities for Abidjan people.
In February 2014, King Mohammed VI had instructed Marchica Med to put its expertise at the disposal of the Ivorian government to conduct the environmental studies of the Ebrié Lagoon and Cocody Bay. The project, developed in close collaboration with Ivorian authorities, covers hydraulic and sedimentary aspects, liquid and solid sanitation, landscaping, mobility and urban transport.    It also develops an urban vision for the development of the Cocody Bay and proposes solutions for the depollution of the Ebrié lagoon and the renewal of its waters.

Four agreements relating to this project were signed before the two heads of state including:

- Framework-Agreement to provide assistance to the contracting authority in the project to safeguard and develop the Cocody Bay.

- Mandate agreement for the structural and the financial arrangement of the project to safeguard and develop the Cocody Bay.

- Memorandum of Understanding to mobilize the priority funding for the project to safeguard and develop the Cocody Bay.

- Partnership agreement between Engineering and Development Council (CID) and the National Bureau of Technical and Development Studies (BNETD).

Explanations were then provided on the progress of this project on a maquette. (ANA)
