Mozambique police arrest Bangladeshis for visa forgery
Maputo, 28 Dec - (ANA) - The Mozambican police in the northern province of Nampula have detained five Bangladeshi citizens for visa forgery. "These people were arrested on Monday at Nampula International Airport, because the entry visas in their passports were forgeries, " spokesperson for the Interior Ministry Pedro Cossa said on Thursday. He told reporters in Maputo that suspects arrived in Nampula on board a plane of Kenya Airways from Nairobi with false entry visas. According to Cossa, the preliminary police investigation indicates that they began their journey in Bangladesh last week and spent several days in Kenya, waiting for their visas to enter Mozambique. They intended to look for commercial opportunities in Mozambique or in neighboring South Africa. The Bangladeshis are suspected to be part of a group involved in an organized crime network that sells forged Mozambique entry visas. The spokesperson said the five Bangladeshi citizens are to be sent back to Nairobi next week on board a Kenya Airways flight. Illegal immigrants use Mozambique as a corridor to reach South Africa in search for employment and better conditions of life. (ANA)
