President Bongo speaks on Gabon’s development strategy
London, 18 May – (ANA) – Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba yesterday in London presented his vision for his country’s economic development to an audience of researchers and business leaders. Speaking at Chatham House, President Bongo called on global leaders to create new models for sustainable development that prioritise the environment, saying the situation is particularly urgent for African countries which must manage large, rapidly urbanising populations and the negative impacts of climate change. A committed environmentalist, President Bongo said African leaders must stop “pointing fingers and start taking action.” “ We should embrace new technologies and have the confidence to address head on the challenges that we face, rather than wait for others to provide solutions,” the President said.
