Houthis threaten retaliatory attacks and warn Saudi airports are unsafe
SANAA, YEMEN, 16 Oct. - (ANA) - Yemen’s Houthis renewed its warning to airlines that Saudi Arabia’s airspace and airports are unsafe, threatening retaliatory attacks as tension escalated between the rebel group and the Saudi-led coalition.
“We reiterate the same warning now and our armed forces have the capability to respond in kind,” Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said. The group considered its operations defensive.
He said the Houthis had the right to act until Saudi Arabia ended what he described as its aggression and blockade against Yemen.
Mr Saree accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out more than 274,302 air strikes over the past 12 years, alleging that they had involved various crimes and massacres.
He claimed Saudi Arabia had launched more than 2,350 air strikes and missile attacks since the resumption of military operations and the latest escalation against Yemen.
“Anyone who attacks our country should not expect us to salute him,” Mr Saree said. - (ANA) -
