CAIRO, 06 Oct. - (ANA) - US envoy Massad Boulos held a rare meeting with Sudanese army chief Gen Abdel Fattah Al Burhan in Egypt, as Washington steps up efforts to broker a ceasefire and political solution to Sudan’s civil war.

 

The two attended a luncheon hosted by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in New Alamein at the weekend, where Mr Boulos said the US remains committed to Sudan’s unity and a transition to civilian rule.

 

The meeting ​came less than two weeks after Washington withheld a visa for Gen Al Burhan ahead of a scheduled UN appearance, a move that was reportedly linked to a US-backed ceasefire proposal that ​the army-led administration has resisted.  - (ANA) -
