TEL AVIV, 02 August. - (ANA) -  The far-right national security minister has released another video of himself taunting a Palestinian detainee, amid continued reports of abuse in Israeli jails. 

 

Footage has surfaced of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir mocking a Palestinian detainee as she complains of the abysmal conditions she is facing in Israeli detention.

 

The far-right minister, who has made frequent visits to detention centres to taunt and threaten Palestinians, can be heard dismissng the detainee's complaints, with the latest video appearing to be filmed inside the unidentified female detainee's cell.

 

"The food is not good, the water is not clean, they don't let us out and there is no medical care," the detainee says when asked about her time in detention.

 

The minister dismisses the complaints about the sub-standard provisions, saying: This isn't a hotel. Whoever does bad things needs to think about their actions, and whoever committed a crime needs to learn - especially a crime against the state of Israel."

 

The Palestinian detainee attempts to reply, but the minister interrupts and repeats that the prison is "not a hotel", while waving his finger at her.

 

Ben-Gvir can also be seen wearing a lapel of a noose on his jacket - a symbol used by Israeli extremists - including himself- to support a law passed by the Knesset in May allowing for the execution of Palestinians deemed to be guilty of "terrorism" crimes. The law is intended only for Palestinian prisoners, and has been slammed by rights groups as a further sign of Israel's apartheid system.

 

The minister has openly advocated for worsening conditions for Palestinians held by Israel, with Palestinians recounting acts of sexual violence, physical abuse, and denial of medical care under his watch over the prison system.

 

In 2024, a Palestinian former detainee, Moazaz Obaidat, alleged that while being held by Israel in 2024, Ben-Gvir personally took part in his torture and danced on his body, thinking he was dead. Obaidat, a bodybuilder, was released from detention appearing emaciated and unable to speak.

 

In 2025, leaked footage showed Ben-Gvir taunting jailed Palestinian politician Marwan Barghouti, amid reports about the popular Fatah leader's mistreatment in prison.

 

Earlier this year, Ben-Gvir shared a video of himself at sites where activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla were being held. The minister can be seen smirking while the activists are bound and forced to kneel with their faces to the ground.   - (ANA) -
