Polls suggest a sweeping Democrat win
WASHINGTON, 23 Oct. - (ANA) - Polls are looking good for the Democrats shortly before America’s midterm elections, which take place on November 3rd.
The party’s candidates for the Senate are leading in Texas, Ohio and Alaska—states that Donald Trump won by double digits in 2024.
They are tied with Republicans in Iowa and Kansas, which he won by 13 and 16 percentage points. In even redder Nebraska and South Carolina, Republicans are clinging to narrow one- and two-point leads.
It looks like a clear rebuke of the US President Donald Trump's policies and the Iran war that led to a growing increase in the cost of living in the United States.
In mid-October 2022 petrol prices were nearing $4 a gallon, and 30-year mortgage rates were spiking to 7%. Only one in five Americans thought the country was heading in the right direction, and the approval ratings of the president, Joe Biden, were dismal.
Analysts noted that Democrats were struggling to defend seats in districts Mr Biden had won by double digits in such reliably Democratic states as California and New York. - (ANA) -
