South African newspaper fails to launch after staff quit
Pretoria, 20 Oct-(ANA)-The launch of a new South African newspaper has been put on hold after five of its editors resigned at the last minute.
The senior staff at The New Age, which promises "more positive" news, have not given their reasons for standing down.
Correspondents say disagreement over editorial content may be behind the move.
The paper's backers have close links to the governing African National Congress (ANC) and President Jacob Zuma.
"We were ready to go to print today. We withheld that publication with respect for those editorial staff that have stayed on," managing editor Gary Naidoo said.(ANA)
