Guebuza wins Mozambique landslide
Maputo, 12 Nov-(ANA)-Mozambique's electoral commission has declared President Armando Guebuza and his Frelimo party as the resounding winners of October's general election.
Official results gave Mr Guebuza more than 75% of the vote, allowing him a second term in office.
Frelimo won more seats in parliament than it previously held, with 191 seats out of 250.
In the presidential race, Mr Guebuza's main rival - veteran Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama - took 16.5% of the vote.
Daviz Simango, the leader of a new party that split from Renamo a few months ago, gained 8.6%.
His Democratic Movement of Mozambique was excluded from fielding candidates in nine of the 13 parliamentary regions as the Constitutional Council said its registration papers were not in order. (ANA)
