Mozambique maintains power supply to Zimbabwe despite arrears

Maputo, 08 July-(ANA)-Mozambique said it won’t cut off electric power to Zimbabwe despite arrears of some US$50 million owed by the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority, or ZESA.

Mozambican Energy Minister Salvador Namburete said the Harare unity government needs the support of his country and the region to rebuild its battered economy.

Blackouts are a grim fact of life for Zimbabweans as ZESA is unable to generate the 1,800 megawatts needed to meet the country’s demand for electricity.(ANA)
