 Mental health promotion and prevention
PARIS, 01 Nov. - (ANA) - Mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, impose a significant burden on individuals and societies. Mild-to-moderate depressive symptoms affect approximatively one in five adults across OECD and EU countries, yet they often go unrecognised and untreated. This increases the risk of progression to more severe conditions and contributes to higher societal costs.
This report identifies 11 best practice interventions implemented across OECD and EU countries, such as school-based resilience programmes, mental health literacy training for front-line professionals, suicide prevention initiatives and improved access to mental health services. With adequate policy support, these interventions can be successfully scaled up and transferred across countries.
