London, 15 June-(ANA)-Amnesty head Irene Khan is to meet Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, government officials and victims of human rights violations during her official visit to that country, reports say.
The human rights organization has accused Mugabe and his loyalists of human rights violations and election-rigging. Mugabe has denied these charges and referred to the organisation as “Amnesty Lies International”.
Amnesty’s report will be taken into consideration by the international community, which is reluctant to release funding to the power-sharing government to rebuild the shattered economy.
They cite continued disregard for the rule of law, including corruption and human rights abuses. (ANA)
