London bus takes Assange protest to the Home Office and Parliament
LONDON, 29 June. - (ANA) - A special protest bus will tour London to mark Julian Assange’s 51st birthday on Friday 1st of July.
The iconic red, open top London routemaster will carry ‘Free Assange’ branding on its sides and destination boards and will tour the Home Office, the Houses of Parliament, and the BBC.
Joining the bus will be investigative journalist John Pilger, singer Dave Rovics, and John Shipton and Gabriel Shipton, Julian’s father and brother.
Julian Assange is now in his fourth year of imprisonment in Belmarsh High Security prison while the US government attempts to extradite him to face trial on espionage charges which could see him sentenced to 175 years in prison.
Home Secretary Priti Patel’s recent decision to allow the extradition is to be challenged in the courts in the most important freedom of the press case this century.
The protest bus will take on it’s passengers in front of the Home Office. - (ANA) -
