US woman rescued in Nigerian hotel
LAGOS 13 Jul (ANA) - The Nigerian police say they have rescued an American woman who has been trapped in a hotel in Lagos for more than a year as part of a romance fraud.
They say the retired civil servant flew to Nigeria in February 2019 to be with a 34-year-old man who she met on Facebook.
In May 2019 she got married to the man.
He is then accused by the police of taking control of her bank accounts and credit cards and taking $48,000 (£38,000).
The police say they received a tip off from a "civic minded" individual and they used the information to go on and rescue her.
Egypt will not issue licences to new vehicles unless they run on natural gas, President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has announced.
The country has set a target to have a million cars to run on natural gas within a year, local media report.
The state will also help car owners to transition to using natural gas by providing a loans to buy newer cars with natural gas tanks.
President Sisi is pushing for the move to preserve the environment as well as utilise the available gas resources in the country and save on the cost of fuel by 50%, in comments attributable to him by local media.(ANA)
