Woman spared jail for sex with boy 14

NEWCASTLE, England 3 Jul (ANA) - A woman who had sex with a 14-year-old boy she met online has been spared jail. Sophie Johnson, 22, ignored warnings he was too young for her when she engaged in sexual activity with him on three separate days in May 2018. Newcastle Crown Court heard she eventually ended the relationship when she realised his true age. She was handed a suspended sentence after a judge heard how she had already experienced ‘significant punishment’ having lost both her job and her home as a result of the offences. Judge Sarah Mallett said Johnson has been described as young for her age and the boy mature for his, adding: ‘This was a relationship of mutual affection, there was no pressure applied or grooming of any sort.
‘You have experienced significant punishment in one way or another as a result of the offences. ‘That’s not to put aside the effect of offences like this on their victim but there is no victim personal statement and I understand he has tried to make further contact with you. ‘I hope there will be no long term harmful effects on the boy.’ Johnson, from Elswick in Newcastle, admitted five counts of having sexual activity with a child and was ordered to complete a three-year community order with rehabilitation requirements and placed on the sex offenders register for five years.(ANA)
