Senators recall Liberian US ambassador
MONROVIA 9 Oct (ANA) - Liberian senators have voted to recall the country’s ambassador to the United States for confirmation hearings.
President George Weah unilaterally appointed George Patten to the position in January 2019, bypassing the mandatory vetting of ambassadorial nominees by the senate.
The appointment was made during an annual break of the legislature
Mr Patten has since presented his credentials to President Donald Trump.
But in the unanimous vote on Tuesday, senators said the ambassador must return to fulfill the constitutional requirement.(ANA)
