Russia threatens to release embarrassing information on British elites
MOSCOW, 18 April . - (ANA) - Kremlin-backed hackers are threatening to release kompromat (compromising material) on MPs, ministers, and other high-profile individuals following the United Kingdom's participation in Saturday's missile strike.
The US, UK, and France launched a coordinated missile strike on Syria this past Saturday as retaliation for the April 7th poison gas attack that killed over 70 people. The allies launched over 100 missiles at targets designed to cripple Assad's "chemical capabilities" and minimize casualties.
Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the missile strike as an "act of aggression" which would "have a destructive effect" on relations. Russia-UK relations were already at a low point thanks to Russia's use of a nerve agent on British soil last month, and its relations with the US aren't much better.
Both President Trump and Prime Minister May have made it clear they are ready to launch future strikes if the Assad regime (backed by Putin) continues to use prohibited chemical agents, and British officials have stated they are "pre-positioned" to hit Moscow with a cyberattack if Russia decides to take aim at British infrastructure.
"If they aggressively come after us, we will certainly have the ability to do some stuff to them," said a British intelligence source. "But unlike Russia, we abide by the law, so anything we do would be proportionately done." - (ANA) -
