Dubai unveils first hospital for camels
Dubai, UAE 15 Dec (ANA) - The brand new Dubai Camel Hospital boasts state-of-the-art medical equipment, pristine operating theatres and a team of international specialist veterinarians. Built to the tune of 40 million dirhams (£ 8.11million), the hospital aims to treat the favourite pets of the Gulf state. Camels remain an important part of UAE heritage, even among city dwellers, and camel races and camel beauty pageants are a favourite recreation for locals. Animals boasting the right pedigree can fetch millions of dollars at auctions in the area. The new hospital built to care for these precious animals is the first of its kind in the world, said Mohamed Al Bulooshi, the hospital's director. 'We found that we must care for camels not only by breeding and raising them, but also by being able to medically treat them,' Bulooshi said.(ANA)
