OECD Week: Productive Economies, Inclusive Societies

PARIS, 13 May. - (ANA) - The OECD’s 2016 Ministerial Council Meeting  will take place at its Paris headquarters on 1 and 2 June 2016, and will be preceded on 31 May and 1 June by the OECD Forum. Both events form part of OECD Week 2016 which will bring together government ministers, international experts and key figures from the worlds of academia, business and civil society.

At the heart of the discussions will be the question of how to strengthen productivity and at the same time, ensure the benefits of economic growth are shared by all. A particular focus will be placed on the groups most affected by shifting social and economic trends – migrants, children and youth, women and the elderly.

The OECD Forum will host nearly 80 debates, presentations and other events on topics ranging from the future of work to integrating migrants; from inclusive cities to cybersecurity.

Participants at both the Forum and Ministerial meeting will address how the OECD can support governments build on recent international agreements in the areas of sustainable development, climate change and the mandates from the G20 group of leading economies.

Highlights of OECD Week will include a keynote speech by Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet, Chair of the Ministerial Meeting, on Wednesday 1 June. It will be followed by the     launch of the OECD’s twice-annual Economic Outlook. Later that day, Latin American leaders and ministers will participate in the launch of a new Latin America and Caribbean Regional Programme.  Other media events are set out below.
